Peggy Lee Mower (Stavast)

Peggy died August 24, 2014. This obituary published by Walker Sanderson Funeral Home does not stat a cause of death.

Peggy Lee Mower Stavast, 62, 41 year resident of Orem, Utah, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Provo, UT.

Peggy was born in Burley Idaho on September 6th, 1951. While growing up she lived in several towns in Idaho; Roswell, NM; Fillmore, UT; Delta, UT; and Salt Lake City UT.

She attended BYU and earned a BS in Food Science and Nutrition. She and Jim Stavast were married in 1973 in the SLC Temple. She worked for a few years as a chemist. Her dream job started with the addition of their first son and from that point on she was devoted to raising her family. She bore 3 sons and 1 daughter and spent her time doing things for or with them, including sports, cub scouts, camping trips, music etc. There were very few activities that the children were involved in that she did not attend.

She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint and served as a pianist, teacher, advisor and on many committees. She was in the Hill Cumorah Pageant while going to BYU.

At a young age she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and endured pain from that time until her passing. However, she never complained about it publicly and most people knew nothing of her suffering.

She loved handiwork most notably, bobbin lace and counted cross stitch. She took the
Sweepstakes award at the Utah State Fair for one of her bobbin lace pieces. She was active in the Beehive and Academy Square Lacers groups. She was also a voracious reader and tried to inspire her children and grandchildren to have a love of reading. She gave many books to the grandchildren but she always read them first so she could talk with them about the story. Her greatest love was for her family, church and being able to serve others. She was most notably known as a loving Daughter, Mother and Grandmother.

She is survived by her parents Reed W and Peggy Rue Stewart Mower, her brother Steve Mower (Sara), her Husband Jim Stavast and four children and their families: Lans and Chatti Stavast: Evan, Thea, Fisher, Emmet; Bill and Linda Stavast: Andrew, Nathan, Joseph, Hosea, Alexa, Amber, Henry, Daniel; Paul and Karen Stavast: Kirsten, Madeleine, Eva, Larissa, Ben, Isaac, new baby girl; and Rebecca and Taylor Udy: Timothy.

Services will be Friday Aug. 29, 2014, 11 AM at the LDS chapel 400 N 400 E, Orem.
