Diane McAllister (Bishop)

Diane died of breast cancer on November 16, 2007. This obituary was published in the Salt Lake Tribune on November 21, 2007.

Diane McAllister Bishop 1/14/1951 ~ 11/16/2007 An Angel Called Home My Sweetheart, our mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully at home into the waiting arms of our Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with breast cancer Nov. 16, 2007. Diane only had to wait two weeks to see her sweet mother again. She was born January 14, 1951 to Warren Bennion and Maxine Burton McAllister. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, she loved being surrounded by her family. She was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple April 11, 1981 to her sweetheart Randy Lyman Bishop. They loved each other dearly for 26 years. Diane graduated from the University of Utah, majoring in Elementary Education. She had a great love for children and they loved her back. As a member of The Mormon Youth Chorus, Diane shared her beautiful soprano voice, and attracted the attention of a red haired young man who courted and then married her. Her great love of her Savior, Jesus Christ, His Gospel, family, reading, singing, baking and teaching kept her busy. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she had many callings, which pleased her Savior. Mom, we thank you for your eternal love, example, and testimony that you gave so freely to each of us. You taught us the meaning of courage. Diane is preceded in death by her grandparents, and by only two weeks, her sweet mother. She is survived by her sweetheart Randy and her four children, Rebecca, Christopher, Paul and Allison; one grandson, Kian; two brothers, David, Dan (Wendy), seven sisters, Susan (Jorge), Lorie, Joni (Rex), Ann (John), Jami (Ernie), Julie (Craig), Lynne (Tony); many nieces, nephews and friends. Diane would have gladly given everything to help anyone. There are few truly Christ-like people and she was definitely one of them. A viewing will be held at Cornelison-Henderson Funeral Home, located at 431 North 15th Ave. in Pocatello, ID from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007. A Testimonial will follow. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at 12 noon, in the Grandview 1st ward chapel, located at 2930 S. 2000 E. Salt Lake City, UT where friends may call from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison-Henderson Funeral Home, Pocatello, Idaho. Special thanks to Portneuf Cancer Center and Idaho Home Hospice. We miss and love you so much Mom and Diane, and we can't wait until we can be Together Forever.
